Marlén Viñayo

Award-winning documentary director, writer and producer. She has lived in El Salvador since 2013, where she founded her production company La Jaula Abierta. Her films “Cachada: The Opportunity” (feature doc) and “Unforgivable” (short doc) have received 38 awards at prestigious international film festivals such as IDFA, Hot Docs, SXSW, Palm Springs, Guanajuato, Slamdance and Sebastopol, and have been selected at more than 150 film festivals worldwide, including Telluride, AFI Docs, Göteborg and Yamagata Documentary Film Festival. She won the 2021 Gabo Prize, was awarded as Ibero American Filmmaker of the Year at POY 2020 and was nominated for the IDA Awards in 2020 and the Emmy Awards in 2019. “Unforgivable” was the first Salvadoran film qualified to compete for the Oscars.

Carlos Martínez

Salvadoran journalist with 25 years of experience. He is currently part of the El Faro special investigations team. He is co-writer and producer of the documentary "Unforgivable", winner of 28 international awards and the first Salvadoran film qualified to compete for the Oscars. In 2024, he received the Maria Moors Cabot Award from Columbia University, and has won the Gabo Prize twice (2020 and 2021), the Hillman Prize (2018), Rey de España Prize (2018), IPYS Prize (2013), Ortega & Gasset Prize (2011) and was nominated for an Emmy Award (2017). He is the author of the book “Juntos, todos juntos” (2019), and co-author of "Colapso México" (2022) “Crónicas desde la región más violenta” (2019) and “Crónicas Negras” (2013). His work has been published in El Faro, The New York Times, The Washington Post and El País, among others.
